The brand(s) that your office equipment supplier provides has less to do with your business’s success than your supplier’s ability to provide excellent service for that equipment. A product that is not maintained and serviced correctly, can never perform to it’s full potential and could cause multiple reliability issues.
First, I’m going to let you in on a not-so-secret secret: multifunction copiers, regardless of manufacturer, all do essentially the same thing. This can be to various standards and quality, but the functionality is the same.
Copiers vary in capabilities, speed, colour or just black and white, a variety of extras (additional paper trays, finishers, etc.), However, when you’re looking to buy or lease office equipment, once you decide on the mix of equipment you need, there’s an even more important consideration – the level of service you can expect from your copier service and maintenance supplier.
You may assume that going direct to the manufacturer that, as it’s their equipment, they’ll be able to service the copier better than anyone. That’s wrong in many ways:
Talk to anyone who’s been in the industry for a long time and they will all say that (with rare exceptions) local dealers provide better service, Here’s why.
As a Local dealer we will attempt to diagnose the issue over the phone and maybe even troubleshoot.
Manufacturers’ call centres will simply forward contact info to the nearest technician. They’ll have no context of the problem, so it takes them longer to diagnose.
Having at least an idea of what’s wrong allows local engineers to ensure they’re carrying parts and supplies they’re most likely to need when they arrive at your office.
Service technicians go through the same training regardless of who they work for.
The manufacturer isn’t local. Service calls have to be checked with a head office call centre. This can turn a 4 hour service into a 24 hour service and sometimes longer. Local dealers make decisions faster.
Service technicians also tend to be some of our longest serving employees. They know what they’re doing. They’ve seen it all and they know their customers and that knowledge equals a faster repair and a quicker return to productivity for your business.
The simple fact is all copiers can go wrong and require maintenance regardless of manufacturer.
